Born and raised in India, Sudhir Choudhrie has played an active role in international commerce, diplomacy, philanthropy, and politics. His contributions to the development of India continue to be a major influence. Mr. Choudhrie has served on numerous Boards of Directors in India and overseas. He has been Chairman of the Indo-China Trade Council and President of the Indo-French Society in India. He is also a Director on the Indian School of Business boards, Saïd Business School at Oxford University, and King’s College Hospital NHS Trust. ,

He is the recipient of numerous awards for his work, including India Abroad Person of the Year in 1977 and Special Recognition by The Most Honorable Order of The British Empire (MBE) for his contribution to better relations between India and the UK. Mr. Choudhrie was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2011 for his contribution to business promotion between India and the UK and other areas. On April 16, 2016, Mr. Choudhrie was honored with the prestigious “Tribute to India Abroad” in London by the High Commissioner of India. Mr. Choudhrie received a standing ovation from the audience and great appreciation from the High Commissioner.

Sudhir Choudhrie is a builder and philanthropist. He has founded over 25 charitable trusts and foundations in India and overseas for socio-economic development. Sudhir Choudhrie has been instrumental in forming several educational and non-profit organizations. The most prominent are: The Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust is an NGO that was founded in 1989 to help educate and train women throughout the country. It runs affiliated schools, colleges, and hostels. ,

In 1989, Mr. Choudhrie founded the India Foundation (IF) to provide a venue for exchanging ideas between India and Britain. The IF hosts numerous book launches, seminars, and public events on issues relating to Indian and Indian communities worldwide. It publishes a quarterly journal, India Matters. The IF has three charitable objectives: Dialogue for Development, Education for Better Governance, and Regional Engagement. The founding patron of the India Foundation is Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
